Catelier

This peice is inspired by a book in the International Museum of Surgical Science based on the anatomy of a cat. My true inspiration came as I dove deeper into the anatomy and found the structure of the pelvis of the cat. The bones of the pelvis are reshaped to create a shell for the two peice garment. Conceptualizing a society, that’s post feline-human war, the bones are being used as armor to protect the humans from whatever they’ll encounter in this dystopian setting.

My sample garment is made using a textured 4-way stretch double knit. The holes that are taken from the pelvis are faced with a nylon and interfaced with tricot to make the cutouts and shape sturdier. The shaping of the garment exposes particular parts of the body exposing the skin but not leaving the model completely exposed
