For this look, I used grey-washed and black silk to create a free-cut dress using Julian Roberts’ subtraction-cutting method. I envisioned the wearer existing within a post-apocalyptic desert environment, where the garment provides coverage while remaining lightweight and breathable. The dress is paired with a scarf and utility bag made from the same fabric, extending the material language throughout the look.

This project also marked a shift in how I understood my own visual language. I had consistently gravitated toward darker colors and neutral tones, but had not previously considered that preference an intentional part of my design identity. Through this look, I began to embrace that restraint rather than feeling the need to justify or move away from it.
