This project transforms a vintage NASCAR jacket into an overall dress through deconstruction and reconstruction. Rather than erasing the identity of the original garment, I preserved its “OFFICIAL” lettering, NASCAR branding, hardware, and utilitarian character, allowing its previous function to remain visible within a new form.

The jacket was reworked into the bodice of the dress and extended into an exaggerated, gathered silhouette that introduces volume, asymmetry, and movement. The contrast between the structured language of motorsports and the expressive proportions of the dress shifts the garment away from its original context while maintaining a visual connection to its history.

Through reuse, the project explores how an existing garment can be transformed without completely separating it from what it once was.
